What we do

weekend trips

Being apart for long periods isn’t conducive to building mutual trust, and people tend to forget everything they’ve learnt from others if they do not see each other for a long time. So we try to organize at least two weekend trips, as well as a few smaller ones, such as day trips with swimming or a visit of a nearby castle. Our plans don’t always go quite as we’d like, but that is life and we all respect it.

summer camps

Summer Camps are the best. There’s plenty of time there to get used to each other’s differences, bond a little, see beautiful nature and construct a new show. In 2025 we managed - with a little help of our italian squatter friends, to make an epic trip to Italy; swimming in the sea, hiking in the mountains, football on a professional field, huge barbecue party and amazing cabaret performance, but above all, forging incredible friendships. The farewell was not without a few tearful eyes, and the whole experience got right under our skin. It changed something between the adults and the children. The trust got stronger. 2026 was, for us, a year f art - first we participated on a big international exhibition and on a summercamp of 2026 we rehearsed action-social drama NeoTesánek, which we performed on two official summer festivals - Prázdniny v Telči and literary festival Tabook.

International Roma day celebration in Janov (Litvínov)

Although our children mostly want to go away (so they can draw on their sleeping friends’ faces at night – we know that, you little snakes!), it’s just as important for us to visit them regularly in Janov. We’re just a small group of not-really-rich people, and it’s nonsense to think we can help improve the difficult living situations of the families we work with. But every year, we can celebrate Roma Day together in the school garden, bring some music, have a dance and meet up by the fire in the evening. We can talk to one another about what we’re going through and be supportive to each other. We try to uphold this tradition, and we’re delighted that, thanks to our initiative, International Roma Day has also begun to be celebrated at the local primary school.

financial support for education

In 2026, we launched a new project aimed at supporting Roma girls in their secondary education.

We offer financial support to concrete families with whom we have a long-standing relationship, to help their children – primarily daughters – throughout their secondary education. A condition of receiving this support is regular attendance at school and the parents’ commitment to encouraging the girls to complete the studies at any type of secondary school. The amount of support depends on the costs associated with their education, such as travels, meals or an accommodation in a boarding house.

The Report on the Socio-Economic Situation of the Roma Population in the Czech Republic for 2023/2024 states that, as of 2023/2024, 45.4 per cent of Roma had completed secondary education. However, the majority of the percentage are men as Roma woman are often responsible for looking after the household and family members from a very young age.

One of the aims of our foundation’s project is to give as many young Romani women as possible the opportunity to make their own conscious decisions about their future.

We are only just getting started – with their parents’ consent, we are now contributing financially to the costs of accommodation and meals for a second-year apprentice on the Baker-Confectioner course in Brno.
